    Twenty new rare-earth metal rich intermetallic aluminium compounds, RE 10 TAl 3 (RE = Y, Ho, Tm, Lu; T = Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, Pt), were synthesized by arc melting the elements. The compounds crystallize, in analogy to e.g. the respective Cd representatives, with a ternary ordered structure as anti-type to the hexagonal Co 2 Al 5 type, with the space group P6 3 /mmc. Abstract. The structures and the magnetic properties of some novel ternary compounds were studied. A large number of compounds have the approximate composition RFe 10 T 2, where T represents Cr, V, Ti, Mo, W or crystal structure of these latter compounds can be derived from the tetragonal ThMn 12 structure type.
